Trogir Old Town holds the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage status. It was originally established by Greek settlers from Syracuse in Sicily and merchants from Issa. In the 4th century BC, following the establishment of the colony on Vis, the Greeks of Issa founded the colonies of Tragurion and Epetion, expanding their influence in central Dalmatia. The name Tragurion is derived from the Greek word “tragos,” meaning chamois. Trogir is widely recognized as one of the most charming coastal cities in Croatia, with a profound impact on history.
